Eye on Student Protagonism: Legacy in Action: Youth Stories, Systems, and Change

Join us for a showcase of capstone projects from Green School Bali students working to shift culture, reclaim voice, and imagine new possibilities—through music, policy, and place.

Kaya's project, Let’s Talk About It, is a three-session capstone program intended to become part of the Green School curriculum, serving as a culminating learning experience around sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape. Through facilitated activities and courageous dialogue, students synthesize learning, empathy, and responsibility in a safe and supportive space. The program is designed not only as a moment of learning, but as a lasting contribution, leaving a legacy of awareness, care, and cultural change within the school community.

Lalita's project, Imagining Regenerative Tourism in Bali, is a regenerative tourism initiative in Bali that centers young people as active agents in shaping how tourism coexists with the island. Through immersive youth-led journeys and the creation of a short film made by Balinese youth, the project challenges extractive tourism models and replaces them with relationships grounded in respect, responsibility, and regeneration. At its core, it aims to leave a lasting shift by ensuring local youth have real voice and influence over the future of their home.

Manon's project, Five Words or Less, is a piano album that translates Indonesian life stories into original classical compositions. Through interviews, the project listens deeply to the complexities, dreams, and struggles of people whose voices are often overlooked, transforming lived experience into music. It aims to leave a legacy of listening, using sound to restore attention, dignity, and humanity to stories that deserve to be heard.

The Eye on Student Protagonism virtual events are dynamic professional learning experiences where students take center stage, sharing their projects, research, and initiatives. Each one-hour session features student-led presentations, interactive discussions, and opportunities for attendees to ask questions and provide feedback. These events foster connections among educators, students, and community members who are passionate about transformative education. Participants leave inspired by innovative student-driven ideas and teaching methods that can be applied in their own educational contexts.
