Eye on Student Protagonism: Documenting the Difference - Stories Through a Student Lens

As part of our 10th-grade Changemaker course, students participated in the International Docathon Challenge, an initiative presented by MadCourses that empowers young filmmakers to explore the role of storytelling in social change. Tasked with creating short documentaries that highlight meaningful action, our students selected local changemakers whose work reflects a commitment to improving their communities. For many, this was their first experience with filmmaking; we learned to plan, shoot, and edit a short documentary from start to finish. Through research, interviews, and creative storytelling, the students crafted films that not only celebrate the work of these individuals and organizations but also invite viewers to support their causes.

The Eye on Student Protagonism virtual events are dynamic professional learning experiences where students take center stage, sharing their projects, research, and initiatives. Each one-hour session features student-led presentations, interactive discussions, and opportunities for attendees to ask questions and provide feedback. These events foster connections among educators, students, and community members who are passionate about transformative education. Participants leave inspired by innovative student-driven ideas and teaching methods that can be applied in their own educational contexts.
